There will be NO Mass prior to Family Formation on Wednesday, September 4th. It will start with supper at 6pm with class to follow.

There is a slight change in the calendar for Manson’s post-confirmation students. Grades 11-12 will not start meeting until October 2nd. All other grades will meet next Wednesday.

A reminder that Religious Education registrations are available online or in the back of church. Family Formation will begin in Manson in Sept. 4. The program will continue on like it did last year with Mass at 5:30, dinner at 6:00, and class from 6:30-7:30 on the first Wednesday of each month. Grades 7-8 will be in the two year Confirmation program and will meet each week. Post-confirmation will continue to meet weekly with Deb, Betty, and our new Catechist, Paul. Classes in Lake City will meet weekly beginning September 18th.

We are in need of substitute teachers for both religious education programs in Lake City and Manson. If you would like to occasionally help out with the program if one of our leaders is sick/absent, please let Jenny Redenius know at 712-210-1893 or at [email protected]. Thank you!!!

This year, Manson will continue with A Family of Faith on the first Wednesday of each month. This year, we will be covering the sacraments! Below is a list of the topics we will discuss each month. This year, the Lake City CCD program is getting all new curriculum! Children in grades 1-5 are going to take part in the Discover! Finding Faith in Life program. Children learn best when they can be engaged on all levels—emotional, spiritual, and physical! In Discover! Finding Faith in Life, we will easily channel their eager wiggles using the built-in energetic learning activities! Each child will receive a Children's Bible they can keep as well as a bag to keep all of their fun learning activities in. Just a thank you to everyone who supported the Youth Group trip to the Catholic Heart Workcamp in the Twin Cities, MN. The trip was a very successful faith/service trip. 15 parishioners attended the camp and worked at the Food Group where packed and boxed 24,801 lb. of food, which was 20,668 meals. They also spent a day weeding and mulching. They plan to go back again in 3 years.

Memorial Day Services on Monday at the Lake City Cemetery have been CANCELLED. Lunch served by the Union Church has been moved to the Union Church instead of Goins Park.

Last night at RE at St Thomas, we talked about the bells. Bell 1, the biggest bell (the top one) is inscribed, "Unto the church I do you call. Death to the grave will summon all." The bell was donated in 1903 by the Catholic ladies of Center Township. This is the bell that's also called a toller, as it is tolled at funerals. (Ask not for whom the bell tolls.... ) This is what happens when you find yourself on a ladder under the bell tower at noon.
